WEEK 6 - Friday 10 October 2025

I will keep this week’s blog deliberately very short.

Firstly, I would like to say ‘thank you’ to those of who that have been in touch since the announcement of my departure broke on Wednesday.  I have been successful in securing a role with another local Trust working across more than one school and I am very much looking forward to a new challenge.

I will leave my reflections on what Hessle means to me for next week, but I can assure you that it has not been an easy decision, and it will be very tough to leave the school.

I can assure you all, however, that the school will continue to thrive.  The appointment of Jim Nixon is an inspired one.  Having worked with Jim for a few years, I know that he brings real integrity along with his vast experience.  You will enjoy meeting him and getting to know him.  He will be supported by the most fantastic senior leadership team imaginable.  They will continue their work with students and families and will support the transition to new leadership under Jim Nixon.

I know that they will get your full support.

In the meantime, enjoy the weekend, enjoy Hull Fair if you are going, and I will be in touch again next week.

Best wishes

Mr Groak
